'Oz' rakes in a whopping $80 million

LOS ANGELES, March 10 (UPI) -- "Oz The Great and Powerful," starring James Franco and Mila Kunis, swept the weekend box office with $80.278,million in receipts.

Another fantasy, "Jack the Giant Slayer," starring Nicholas Hoult and Ewan McGregor, was a distant second with $10.02 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Identity Thief" was third with $6.319 million; "Dead Man Down," fourth with $5.350 million; "Snitch" fifth with $5.1 million; "21 and Over" sixth with $5.056 million; "Safe Haven" seventh with $3.8 million; "Silver Linings Playbook" eighth with $3.745 million; and "Escape From Planet Earth" ninth with $3.207 million.

"The Last Exorcism Part II" rounded out the top 10 with $3.12 million.
