PALM BEACH, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- Actress Carrie Fisher has confirmed to Florida's Palm Beach Illustrated she will appear in the upcoming seventh "Star Wars" picture.

Fisher, 56, played the iconic role of Princess Leia in three "Star Wars" movies in the 1970s and '80s.

Asked by the magazine if she could "confirm whether you'll reprise the role of Princess Leia" in the seventh installment, Fisher said only, "Yes."

Pressed to describe what she thinks Leia is like now, Fisher replied with a laugh: "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."

Mark Hamill -- who played Leia's twin brother Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars" Episodes IV, V and VI -- said last month he, Fisher and their co-star Harrison Ford are in talks to reprise their roles in the sequel to the space-opera blockbusters.

J.J. Abrams is to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is set for release in 2015.
