France to lure Bollywood films to Alps

PARIS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A French culture minister is imploring Indian filmmakers to use the French Alps next time they need a dramatic mountain background for a Bollywood flick.

Aurelie Filippetti told the filmmakers the new Socialist government has eased taxes and visa rules aimed at making it easier for foreign film crews to shoot in France. Filippetti, accompanying French President Francois Hollande on a trip to India, said many of the mountain scenes in Bollywood films are shot in Switzerland or the Czech Republic.

India is the world's leading producer of feature films with 4 billion cinema tickets sold annually, France 24 said Friday.
