ADG holds 17th production design awards

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The Art Directors Guild held its 17th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, with "Anna Karenina," "Life of Pi" and "Skyfall" all winning prizes.

Awards were handed out Sunday in Los Angeles to nine production designers for their work on films and television, the ADG said in a release.

"Anna Karenina" production designer Sarah Greenwood won an award for best period film, while David Gropman, the production designer on "Life of Pi," won best fantasy film. Best production design on a contemporary film went to Dennis Gassner for "Skyfall."

The award ceremony was overseen by ADG Council Chair John Shaffner and hosted by Paula Poundstone.

Production designer Herman Zimmerman was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award Presented by BMW, although he was unable to attend the event due to an illness.
