LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Lucasfilm, which was recently bought by Hollywood's Disney studio, says it is postponing the planned 3-D re-release of two of the "Star Wars" prequels.

"Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall's scheduled release of Episodes II and III in 3-D," Lucasfilm said in a statement Monday to EW.com. "Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new 'Star Wars' trilogy we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on 'Star Wars: Episode VII' in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3-D release plans at a later date."

The "Star Wars" prequel "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" was re-released in 3-D last February.

J.J. Abrams is set to direct the seventh installment in the franchise, which is being written by "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Toy Story 3" screenwriter Michael Arndt. "Star Wars VII" is due out in theaters in 2015.
