LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A representative for Dior says Jennifer Lawrence did not suffer a wardrobe malfunction at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday.

Lawrence, 22, looked stunning in the blue gown she wore to the event, but the frock appeared to come apart, leaving her upper thighs bare, when she stood to collect her Best Actress statuette for her work in the film "Silver Linings Playbook."

"The dress is made with different levels of tulle and satin and that is what the viewers saw when Jennifer lifted her dress slightly," a representative from the Dior fashion house told EW.com Monday. "It was not ripped and there was no malfunction ... it was the design of the gown."
