'Zero' heads up box office with $24M

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- "Zero Dark Thirty," the Osama bin Laden thriller starring Jessica Chastain, was No. 1 at the box office this weekend with $24 million.

"A Haunted House," a horror spoof starring Marlon Wayans and Cedric the Entertainer, was No. 2 with $18.17 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Gangster Squad" was third with $16.71 million; "Django Unchained" fourth with $11.065 milllion; "Les Miserables (2012)" fifth with $10.127 million; ,"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" sixth with $9.08 million; "Lincoln" seventh with $6.314 million; "Parental Guidance" eighth with $6.1 million; "Texas Chainsaw 3D" ninth with $5.15 million.

"Silver Linings Playbook" rounded out the top 10 with $5 million.
