Sandra Bullock set for People's Choice humanitarian honor

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock is to be presented with the Favorite Humanitarian award at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

The fan-voted prizes for the best in film, music and television in 2012 will be handed out during a ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.

The show is to air on CBS.

"The People's Choice Awards will honor Sandra Bullock with the first-ever award for Favorite Humanitarian for her generous philanthropic efforts throughout her career, specifically her ongoing commitment to Warren Easton High School in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina," organizers said in a news release. "Sandra Bullock adopted Warren Easton Charter High School less than six months after Hurricane Katrina closed the heavily damaged building. She has contributed funds for college scholarships for graduating seniors, band uniforms, athletic equipment and has helped fund the renovation to the auditorium and the construction of a school-based health clinic."

Confirmed to attend the People's Choice Awards are Chris Colfer, Josh Duhamel, Liam Hemsworth, Julianne Hough, Adam Levine, Lea Michele, Shemar Moore, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jim Parsons, Katy Perry, Ellen Pompeo, Ian Somerhalder, Taylor Swift, Emma Watson and Naomi Watts.

Other anticipated guests will be Jensen Ackles, Stephen Amell, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Galecki, Josh Hutcherson, Regina King, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Grace Moretz, Olivia Munn, Chris O'Donnell, Jason O'Mara, Jared Padalecki, Eddie Redmayne, Casey Wilson and The Wanted.

Kaley Cuoco is to serve as host of the show, which will feature musical performances by Christina Aguilera, Jason Aldean and Alicia Keys.
