PARIS, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- French actor Gerard Depardieu was arrested in Paris and could face charges for alleged drunk driving after crashing his scooter, authorities say.

The 63-year-old star of the films "Life of Pi," "Man in the Iron Mask," "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "Green Card" fell off his bike, slightly injuring his elbow, Sky News reported.

He was taken into police custody after his blood alcohol level was found to be well above the French limit for driving, the report said.

The actor was released by police Thursday night after he sobered up, Sky News said.

No one else was injured in the incident.
