NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Will Ferrell says "Anchorman 2" will find his fictional broadcast journalism team learning to cover celebrity stories as well as hard news.

"We are going to focus on and comment on the transition from what was kind of traditional news to where entertainment forces started melding in, and Ron's going to be one of the catalysts of that," Ferrell told ABC News Friday, referring to his 1970s anchorman character, Ron Burgundy.

The actor went on to say he grew back Ron's trademark mustache for the follow-up.

"I'm surprised by how many people have walked up to me and asked, 'Is that mustache real?'" he said. "Of course, I say, 'Yes, why would I be wearing a fake mustache?' I mean, why would I be walking around wearing a fake mustache?"

The sequel to 2004's "Anchorman" is due for release next year. Paul Rudd and Steve Carell will reprise their roles from the first movie.
