
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- "The Possession" haunted the top of the U.S. box office for the second weekend in a row with $9.5 million in gross receipts.
The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick.
"Lawless," starring Shia LaBeouf among others, was second with $6.002 million.
All studio estimates of gross U.S. box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.
"The Words" was third with $5 million; "The Expendables" fourth with $4.75 million; "The Bourne Legacy" fifth with $4 million; "ParaNorman" sixth with $3.83 million; "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" seventh with $3.65 million; "The Campaign" eighth with $3.53 million; "The Dark Knight Rises" ninth with $3.285 million.
Rounding out the top 10 was "2016 Obama's America" with $3.281 million.
