NEW YORK, D.C., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The "Hunger Games" is now the all-time best-selling book series on Amazon.com, the U.S. Internet retailer announced.

Amazon said the "Hunger Games" trilogy this month passed the seven-book "Harry Potter" series in combined print and Kindle sales.

"This series is only three books versus Harry Potter's seven, and to achieve this result in just four years is a great testament to both the popularity of the work and, we think, the growth in reading digitally during that time," Sara Nelson, editorial director for Amazon.com said in a written statement.

All three "Hunger Games" books remained in the top 50 of Amazon.com's best selling books in both Kindle and print formats.
