NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Cuba Gooding Jr.'s lawyer contacted New Orleans police regarding an arrest warrant issued for the Oscar-winning actor this week, authorities said.

A female bartender told police the "Jerry Maguire" star shoved her twice after she asked him to calm down or leave when patrons at the Bourbon Street watering hole where she works snapped his picture early Tuesday.

Gooding Jr. reportedly left the bar in a huff and a battery arrest warrant was issued for him.

Gooding Jr.'s attorney, Peter Toumbekis, told the Los Angeles Times the actor is "taking necessary actions" to resolve his legal troubles.

No other details regarding Gooding Jr.'s side of the story were immediately available.
