BERLIN, July 26 (UPI) -- German actress Susanne Lothar has died, her attorney announced. She was 51.

Christian Schetz said Lothar's family would not disclose details regarding the actress's death "for understandable reasons," the BBC said.

The Hamburg-born actress' film credits include "The Reader," "Eisenhans," "The Lives of Others," "The White Ribbon," "Funny Games" and "The Piano Teacher," as well as the upcoming adaptation of "Anna Karenina."

She was predeceased by her husband, actor Ulrich Muehe, in 2007. She is survived by their two children, the BBC said.
