Philip Seymour Hoffman lands 'Catching Fire' role

LOS ANGELES, July 9 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has joined the cast of "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire," The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

The star of the recent Broadway revival of "Death of a Salesman" will play Plutarch Heavensbee in "Catching Fire," which is set for a November 2013 release, the newspaper said.

Hoffman's film credits include "Twister," "Boogie Nights," "Magnolia," "The Big Lebowski," "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Almost Famous," "Cold Mountain," "Mission: Impossible III," "Capote," "Doubt" and "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead."
