'Spider-Man' swings to top of box office

LOS ANGELES, July 8 (UPI) -- "The Amazing Spider-Man," starring Emma Stone and others, took in a hefty $65 million in U.S. receipts for the No. 1 spot this weekend.

"Ted," with Mark Wahlberg and a fuzzy bear, was No. 2 with $35.59 million.

All studio estimates of gross U.S. box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

The animated "Brave" was third with $20.16 million; "Savages" fourth with $16,16 million; "Magic Mike" fifth with $15.61 million; "Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection" sixth with $10.2 million; the animated "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" seventh with $7.7 million; "Katy Perry: Part of Me" eighth with $7.15 million; and "Moonrise Kingdom" ninth with $4.64 million.

"To Rome with Love," shown on only 806 screens, rounded out the top 10 with $3.5 million.
