NEW YORK, June 28 (UPI) -- "The Amazing Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield helped kick off the "Spiders Alive!" exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
He made an appearance at the museum after a stunt actor dressed as Spider-Man repelled down the side of the building Wednesday and hand-delivered a live Chilean rose tarantula to Norman Platnick, the curator of the upcoming exhibition.
"Spiders Alive!" opens at the museum July 28.
Garfield plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in "The Amazing Spider-Man," which hits theaters July 3. The actor and his co-stars Emma Stone, Denis Leary and Rhys Ifans also helped light the Empire State Building red and blue Monday as part of Spider-Man Week in New York City.
