'Bridesmaids,' 'Hunger Games' earn 8 MTV Movie nods apiece

NEW YORK, May 1 (UPI) -- The wedding comedy "Bridesmaids" and survival drama "The Hunger Games" earned eight MTV Movie Award nominations apiece in New York Tuesday.

Both are nominated for Movie of the Year, along with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," which is up for a total of six trophies; "The Help" with four nods and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1" with two mentions.

In the running for Best Female Performance are Emma Stone for "Crazy, Stupid, Love," Emma Watson for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," Jennifer Lawrence for "The Hunger Games," Kristen Wiig for "Bridesmaids" and Rooney Mara for "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

Nominated for Best Male Performance are Channing Tatum for "The Vow," Daniel Radcliffe for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," Joseph Gordon-Levitt for "50/50," Josh Hutcherson for "The Hunger Games" and Ryan Gosling for "Drive."

Shortlisted for the Best Cast prize are the stars of "21 Jump Street," "Bridesmaids," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," "The Help" and "The Hunger Games."

The fan-voted awards are to be handed out June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
