Bob Weinstein's wife seeks divorce

NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- Annie Weinstein has filed for divorce in New York from her movie and stage producer husband Bob Weinstein, people close to the couple say.

Unnamed sources told the New York Post Annie Weinstein also filed for an emergency order Friday in Manhattan Supreme Court to protect her from "bodily harm."

The sources said the filing came the day after Bob Weinstein and his wife's family staged an intervention to get her to deal with an alleged drinking problem, the Post said.

Don Sloane, who guided the intervention, said any claim of abuse "is irresponsible and frivolous," the newspaper said.

"I can categorically state that there was no abuse," he said in a statement.

"The alleged incident consisted of an intervention by family members including myself, Annie Weinstein's sister and her brother-in-law, Bob Weinstein's daughter Sara and additional health professionals in an attempt to convince Bob's wife, Annie, to seek help for her drinking addiction."

A representative for the 57-year-old co-founder of The Weinstein Co., said Bob Weinstein's "only hope is that his wife will get the treatment she needs for the sake of their children and herself."

The Post said it did not hear back from Annie Weinstein's attorney when it sought comment.

The couple were married in 2000.

Bob Weinstein has been involved in the making of movies such as "Pulp Fiction," "The English Patient," "Sin City" and "Shakespeare in Love." He also helped stage "The Producers" on Broadway.
