LOS ANGELES, March 9 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Dick Van Dyke, 86, has married his 40-year-old makeup artist, Arlene Silver, RumorFix reported Friday.
Van Dyke met Silver six years ago at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and married her Feb. 29.
"I was in the green room and she passed through and I was bowled over by her beauty," Van Dyke told RumorFix, adding he hired Silver to be his personal makeup artist after the prize presentation.
"The last couple of years we kind of fell in love," Van Dyke said. "Kinda on the spur of the moment, we just decided Leap Day would be the best time to do it."
Van Dyke is best known for his work in the films "Bye Bye Birdie," "Mary Poppins" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," as well as in the TV series "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Diagnosis: Murder." He was previously married twice.
