
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- "Contraband," starring Mark Wahlberg, was No. 1 at the U.S. box office during the weekend with $24.1 million in receipts.
The animated "Beauty and the Beast (3D)" was No. 2 with $18.49 million.
All studio estimates of gross U.S. box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.
"Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol" was third with $11.5 million; "Joyful Noise" a close fourth with more than $11.34 million; "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" fifth with $8.41 million; "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)" sixth with $8.3 million; "The Devil Inside," dropping more than 76 percent from its first weekend, seventh with $7.9 million; "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" eighth with $5.8 million; "War Horse" ninth with more than $5.6 million.
"The Iron Lady" was 10th with more than $5.38 million.
