'Contagion' tops DVD sales chart

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The Matt Damon thriller "Contagion" is the top-selling DVD in the United States, Rentrak reported Thursday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the DVD sales roster for the week ending Jan. 8 is "Dolphin Tale," followed by "The Help" at No. 3, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" at No. 4 and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are "Kung Fu Panda 2" at No. 6, "The Hangover Part II" is No. 7, "Friends with Benefits" at No. 8, "Midnight in Paris" at No. 9 and "Final Destination 5" at No. 10.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is the No. 1 DVD rental for the week ended Jan. 7.

"Colombiana" is No. 2, "Apollo 18" is No. 3, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" is No. 4, "Cowboys & Aliens" is No. 5, "The Hangover Part II" is No. 6, "The Help" is No. 7, "Warrior" is No. 8, "Contagion" is No. 9 and "Mr. Popper's Penguins" is No. 10.
