'50/50,' 'Paris' compete for Writers Guild award

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- "50/50," "Bridesmaids," "Midnight in Paris," "Win Win" and "Young Adult" were nominated for Best Original Screenplay by the Writers Guild of America Thursday.

In the running for the Best Adapted Screenplay prize are "The Descendants," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Help," "Hugo" and "Moneyball."

The nominees for Best Documentary Screenplay are "Better This World," "If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front," "Nostalgia for the Light," "Pina," "Position Among the Stars" and "Senna."

Winners will be honored at the 2012 Writers Guild Awards Feb. 19 during simultaneous ceremonies in Hollywood and New York.
