VATICAN CITY, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Vatican archivists said they don't know how a clip from the 1931 classic monster movie "Frankenstein" wound up in the Holy See library.

The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said the unmarked frame was found this week among a collection of films documenting church events and other papal activities.

The film based on the Mary Shelly novel starred Boris Karloff and is considered a landmark of the horror genre, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.
