10 qualify for live-action short Oscar nod

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday 10 live-action short films will advance in the voting process for the Oscars.

One hundred seven pictures had originally qualified in the category.

The 10 films are listed below in alphabetical order by title.

"Je Pourrais Etre Votre Grand-Mere (I Could Be Your Grandmother)" by Bernard Tanguy

"Love at First Sight" by Michael Davies

"Pentecost" by Peter McDonald

"Raju" by Max Zahle

"The Road Home" by Rahul Gandotra

"The Roar of the Sea" by Ana Rocha Fernandes and Torsten Truscheit

"Sailcloth" by Elfar Adalsteins

"The Shore" by Terry George

"Time Freak" by Andrew Bowler

"Tuba Atlantic" by Hallvar Witzo

The Short Films and Feature Animation Branch members will select three to five nominees from among the 10 titles on the shortlist.

The 84th Academy Awards nominations are to be announced Jan. 24. The Oscars will be handed out Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
