'Super 8' tops DVD sales, rental charts

The 1979-set science-fiction flick "Super 8" is the top-selling DVD and No. 1 rental in the United States, Rentrak said Friday.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- The science-fiction flick "Super 8" is the top-selling DVD and No. 1 rental in the United States, Rentrak said Friday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the sales chart for the week ending Nov. 27 is "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," followed by "Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas: The Play" at No. 3, "Cars 2" at No. 4 and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are "Conan the Barbarian" at No. 6, "Bridesmaids" at No. 7, "Fast Five" at No. 8, "The Original Christmas Classics" at No. 9 and "The Lion King" at No. 10.

The No. 2 DVD rental for the week ended Nov. 26 is "Conan the Barbarian."

"The Change-Up" is No. 3, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is No. 4, "Captain America: The First Avenger" is No. 5, "Crazy, Stupid, Love" is No. 6, "Larry Crowne" is No. 7, "Water For Elephants" is No. 8, "Cars 2" is No. 9 and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is No. 10.
