NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- HBO has acquired an option on a new book about Bernie Madoff and will roll it into a movie project about the U.S. investment swindler.

The Hollywood Reporter said Laurie Sandell's "Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family" will provide additional material for a Madoff movie being produced by Robert De Niro's Tribeca Productions.

Tribeca had earlier inked Diane Henriques' Madoff book "The Wizard of Lies" to serve as a platform for the project, which will feature De Niro in the title role.

"Truth and Consequences" is the authorized biography of Madoff's wife and children, who were recently featured on the CBS program "60 Minutes." The Reporter said Saturday that while the segment drew good ratings, there was not much of a pop in book sales afterward.
