LONDON, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Hugh Grant has become a first-time father at the age of 51, the British actor's publicist said Tuesday.

The representative told UsMagazine.com Grant's daughter was born early last month. The name of the child's mother, whom the "Love Actually" and "Bridget Jones' Diary" star is no longer dating, has not been disclosed.

"I can confirm that Hugh Grant is the delighted father of a baby girl," his publicist told the celebrity news Web site. "He and the mother had a fleeting affair and while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive. He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms."

The never-married actor dated supermodel Elizabeth Hurley for 13 years before breaking up in 2000.
