HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Director James Cameron said "Titanic" warranted being released again after previewing scenes of the new 3D version of the special-effects epic in Hollywood.
Cameron and producer Jon Landau were at the Paramount lot Friday to screen 18 minutes from eight scenes of the retooled 1997 movie, which will be released in April to what Cameron said was a new generation of fans.
"There are certain films that [warrant] being brought back to the theater," Cameron said. "There is a whole generation of people who haven't seen it at all."
The Hollywood Reporter said the footage included the scenes in which Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet meet on the doomed ship's staircase and their final smooch on the bow of the liner as it sinks
Cameron said that while he his generally against re-processing movies into 3D, he would have shot "Titanic" in 3D if the technology had been available. "I totally believe 3D is an enhancement for the dramatic scenes -- not just the big action," he said.
