LONDON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Actor Al Pacino has made a British radio documentary about his new film "Wilde Salome" and the inspiration behind his interpretation of Oscar Wilde's 1891 play.

The documentary, which will air Nov. 14 on BBC's Radio 4, reflects on Pacino's experiences making the movie, The Independent reported Friday.

"It took me years to find out what the hell I was doing and why," Pacino said in a transcript of the BBC program obtained by The Independent. "The truth of it is that I was bitten by the rub of love when I first saw Salome and I pursued it. I kept trying to get people to feel the same way I did and they just wouldn't. So I thought I'll try it one more time and make a movie of it."

Pacino performed in "Salome" on Broadway in 2003 and later in Los Angeles in 2006. He filmed the Los Angeles performance and edited it together with interviews with Gore Vidal, Tom Stoppard and Bono to create the feature-length "Wilde Salome," which recently had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
