LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Harry Potter-mania was alive and well in Hollywood this weekend where the teenage wizard's blockbuster film franchise was saluted at the annual Scream Awards.
"Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows -- Part 2" conjured up six awards at Saturday's Scream Awards gala at Universal Studios in California, which honored the year's best in science fiction, scary movies and comic books.
Star Daniel Radcliffe accepted the evening's top honor, The Ultimate Scream, via a remote broadcast from New York's Times Square accompanied by scores of Potter fans, the awards producer, Spike TV, said in a written statement.
Other honorees included Robert Downey Jr., who received the Hero Award for his role as "Iron Man," and Nicolas Cage, who was given the Maverick Award and will appear in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," scheduled for release in February.
The audience was packed with Hollywood notables, and there were special appearances on stage by Darth Vader and Pee-Wee Herman.
The new Batman movie was named Most Anticipated Movie, and attendees received sneak previews of "Paranormal Activity 3" and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows."
