LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- "Real Steel," starring Hugh Jackman and a boxing robot, took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office during the weekend with $27.3 million in receipts.
"The Ides of March," starring Ryan Gosling and George Clooney, was a distant second with $10.4 million.
All studio estimates of gross box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.
"Dolphin Tale" was third with $9.16 million; "Moneyball" fourth with $7.5 million; "50/50" fifth with $5.5 million; "Courageous," sixth with $4.6 million; "The Lion King" seventh with more than $4.55 million; "Dream House" eighth with $4.5 million; and "What's Your Number?" ninth with $3.05 million.
"Abduction" rounded out the top 10 with $2.9 million.
