HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Halloween season kicked off in Hollywood this weekend with the unveiling of this year's Eyegore Awards for the a scariest movie-based haunted-house mazes.

The Eyegores were handed out by a bevy of celebrities at Universal Studio Hollywood, which gave the mazes a distinctly movie-fanboy flavor, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"I love horror fans," said actor David Arquette. "They have a great sense of humor and they are a bunch of oddballs, just like me."

Arquette was saluted at the rowdy affair for his work on the "Scream" movies at the event, which was decorated in a "Children of the Corn" motif and hosted by Corey Feldman, who was decked out in a cape.

Some of the blood-curdling mazes were created in the themes of chillers such as "House of 1,000 Corpses," "The Thing" and "Hostel."
