BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Principal photography began this week in Los Angeles on the mob flick "Gangster Squad," starring Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures confirmed Tuesday the cameras have begun rolling under the direction of Ruben Fleischer, whose directing credits include "30 Minutes or Less" and "Zombieland."
Set in 1949 Los Angeles and inspired by true events, the movie casts Penn as ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen, Stone as his moll, and Brolin and Gosling as the lawmen determined to take him down, the film's producers said in a synopsis.
