Google celebrates Freddie Mercury with doodle

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Google is celebrating what would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday with its second longest doodle ever.

The 98-second-long animation, unveiled on Monday, Mercury's birthday, features the Queen frontman navigating a world inspired by his own lyrics set to his hit song "Don't Stop Me Now," USA Today reported.

U.S. Google users will have to wait until Tuesday for the YouTube video to appear on the Google home page, due to scheduling conflicts with Labor Day.

It took about three months to put together the tribute to Mercury, who died in 1991 of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS.

"Considering how colorful Freddie's career was, we wanted to create a doodle that was just as colorful," said Google doodler Jennifer Hom.
