LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Al Pacino and other cast members of 1983's "Scarface" met at a Los Angeles party honoring the movie's Blu-ray Disc release.

The Tuesday gala celebrating the Sept. 6 release was attended by Universal Studios Home Entertainment President Craig Kornblau, who said the film has already sold 6 million DVD copies for Universal Studios Home Entertainment, homemediamagazine.com reported Wednesday.

The movie, written by Oliver Stone and directed by Brian De Palma, was released to many negative reviews nearly 30 years ago because of its language and graphic violence.

Many present-day fans treasure the film because of what was shunned in an America fatigued from the Vietnam War.

"What would happen if this movie opened next week?" Pacino asked.
