'Help' cleans up at U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- "The Help," with Emma Stone and an ensemble cast, took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office during the weekend with more than $20.47 million in receipts.

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes," with James Franco among others, was second with $16.3 million.

All studio estimates of gross U.S. receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" was third with $12.02 million; "Conan the Barbarian (2011)" was fourth with a disappointing $10 million during its first weekend; "The Smurfs" was fifth with $8 million; "Fright Night (2011)" was sixth and also disappointed with $7.9 million in its first weekend; "Final Destination 5" was seventh with more than $7.7 million; "30 Minutes or Less" was eighth with $6.3 million; and "One Day" ninth with more than $5.12 million.

"Crazy, Stupid, Love" rounded out the Top 10 with $4.95 million.
