HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Science fiction icon Ray Bradbury says striking a deal to make a movie of his 1957 novel "Dandelion Wine" was a great way to celebrate his 91st birthday.
It was announced this week that Bradbury would team up with "Black Swan" producer Mike Medavoy on a film version of Bradbury's semi-autobiographical tale of a small-town kid's summer experiences in 1928.
"This is the best birthday gift I could ask for," said Bradbury, whose birthday is Monday. "Today, I have been reborn!"
Bradbury said in a statement the story focuses on "an unforgettable summer that still holds a mystical power over me."
The Hollywood Reporter said Medavoy was producing "Dandelion Wine" for Phoenix Pictures with Rodion Nahapetov handling the screenplay.
