LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Josh Duhamel is to lend his voice to the character of Captain Flynn on TV's "Jake and the Never Land Pirates."

Disney said Monday Duhamel will play the recurring role of "a dashing young pirate who is well known for his legendary adventures on the Never Sea" on the animated spinoff of "Peter Pan."

The actor will join other recently announced celebrity guest stars Sharon Osbourne and Jane Kaczmarek for the Disney Jr. show's second season, slated to premiere in early 2012, the cable network said.

Duhamel is best known for his work in the "Transformers" trilogy, as well as the movies "When in Rome" and "Life as We Know It."
