NEW YORK, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. artist and director Julian Schnabel broke up with his girlfriend, Palestinian journalist Rula Jebreal, after four years, the New York Post reported.
Schnabel, 59, directed "Miral," a big-screen adaptation of the 38-year-old Jebreal's autobiographical novel.
The Post cited multiple unnamed sources as confirming the couple broke up in June after a tumultuous media tour to promote the film.
"He ended it before the Venice Biennale in June," on insider told the newspaper. "Things became very difficult working on the movie together and promoting it together. While it garnered critical acclaim, the movie was not a hit, which caused further issues."
