Bollywood's Kapoor dead at 79

MUMBAI, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor died of chronic renal failure Sunday in Mumbai, a colleague said. He was 79.

Fellow Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan said Kapoor died at Breach Candy Hospital, the Press Trust of India reported.

"The flamboyance and joie de vivre of the Industry lost!" Bachchan said in a post on Twitter.

"An entire life full of optimism and happy spirit, caring loving to all... now suddenly silent."

Kapoor began his movie career in 1953 in "Jeevan Jyoti." His portfolio of hits included "Dil Deke Dekho," "Junglee," "Professor," "China Town," "Kashmir Ki Kali," "Teesri Manzil," "An Evening in Paris," "Bramhachari" and "Vidhaata," PTI said.
