NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) -- Former prosecutor and New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is to serve as host of AMC's inaugural "Mob Week" film series, the cable network said.

AMC announced Tuesday it plans to air 130 hours of organized crime-themed programming from Monday through Aug. 7.

In addition to screenings of "The Godfather," "Scarface," "The Untouchables," "Donnie Brasco," "Goodfellas," "Pulp Fiction" and "Carlito's Way," the network said it will also air short-form documentary segments examining the history, impact and real-life costs of the mob from the inner workings of the Mafia to the reality of being a made man.

The series will feature interviews with mob experts as well as some notorious Mafia personalities, such as Henry Hill, Johnny Fratto, and Sam Gianccana Jr., who attempt to separate truth from fiction in the depiction of the mob on screen.

Giuliani also will talk in-depth about his personal love of classic gangster films, as well as his connection to real-life mobsters.

He worked as Associate Attorney General, then was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and served as New York City Mayor. During his time as a federal prosecutor, Giuliani indicted 11 organized crime figures, including the heads of New York's so-called "Five Families" on charges including extortion, labor racketeering, and murder for hire.

Eight defendants were found guilty on all counts and subsequently sentenced on Jan. 13, 1987 to hundreds of years of prison time, AMC noted.
