BURBANK, Calif., July 22 (UPI) -- U.S. film studio Warner Bros. says it has pushed back the release date of "Man of Steel" from its tentative date of December 2012 to June 2013.
The Hollywood Reporter said director Zack Snyder's take on the Superman legend will hit theaters later than expected because the studio wants to distance it from Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," which is to open Dec. 14, 2012.
"Man of Steel," with British actor Henry Cavill in the starring role, is to begin shooting this summer.
The cast also includes Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe.
