HOLLYWOOD, July 9 (UPI) -- Ray Stevenson joined the cast of the next "G.I. Joe" film as the villain Firefly, producers of the action flick slated for release next summer said.
Stevenson, who most recently appeared as the warrior Volstagg in "Thor," is currently wrapping up a role in "Jayne Mansfield's Car" opposite Robert Duvall and Kevin Bacon.
The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday Stevenson is not the only newcomer to the "G.I. Joe" cast. Only Channing Tatum is returning from the first installment.
Firefly is a character from the evil Cobra Organization who is a saboteur, explosives expert and master of the ninja arts.
