Actress Elaine Stewart dead at 81

LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) -- Actress Elaine Stewart has died at her Beverly Hills, Calif., home, following a long illness, her agent said. She was 81.

The Los Angeles Times reported the "Brigadoon" star's death Tuesday.

Born Elsy Steinberg, the actress also appeared in the films "The Adventures of Hajji Baba," "The Tattered Dress" and "Night Passage," as well as in the TV shows "Bat Masterson," "Burke's Law" and "Perry Mason."

She served as co-host of the game show "Gambit," with Wink Martindale, and on "High Rollers" with Alex Trebek, as well.

Stewart is survived by her husband, game show producer Merrill Heatter, and two children, Stewart and Gabrielle, Britain's The Daily Mail noted.
