Woody Allen to star in and direct 'Bop'

NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- Woody Allen announced Monday he will star in and direct "The Bop Decameron," the first film he shoots in Rome.

Now in pre-production, the movie will co-star Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page.

The cast will also include Antonio Albanese, Fabio Armiliata, Alessandra Mastronardi, Ornella Muti, Flavio Parenti, Alison Pill, Riccardo Scamarcio and Alessandro Tiberi.

The Gravier Productions film, which Allen also wrote, is being produced by Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum. It will be Allen's first financed by the Italian production and distribution company, Medusa Film.

"The Bop Decameron" is scheduled to begin production July 11.
