'Hangover' tops 'Panda' at U.S. box office

LOS ANGELES, May 29 (UPI) -- "The Hangover Part II" bested the animated "King Fu Panda 2" at the U.S. weekend box office, grossing $86.4 million.

Panda 2 was in second place with $48 million and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" fell to third, grossing $39.3 million in its second week.

Gal-pal comedy "Bridesmaids" was a distant fourth with $16.3 million in its third week.

"Thor," starring Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, was No. 5 with $9.3 million.

All studio estimates of gross box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Fast Five" was sixth with $6.6 million; Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" seventh with $1.91 million; "Jumping the Broom," eighth at $1.9 million and "Something Borrowed" was No. 9 with $1.8 million.

"Rio" was 10th with $1.7 million.
