TOKYO, May 22 (UPI) -- American pop star Katy Perry says her husband, actor Russell Brand, was kicked out of Japan this weekend due to some old legal issues.

Perry and Brand took to Twitter to announce what had happened and vowed that Perry's concert tour would continue.

"But of course I love my Japanese fans and the show must go on, no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! It's not right but it's okay," Perry wrote.

TMZ.com said Sunday Brand was asked to leave by the authorities due to what Perry called "priors from 10 years ago."

Brand, star of "Get Him to the Greek," made light of his detention by quipping he was trying to dig an escape tunnel with a chopstick, Us Magazine reported.
