NEW ORLEANS, May 6 (UPI) -- Nicolas Cage's defense attorney says the New Orleans district attorney has declined to charge the film star following his arrest in the city last month.

The "Moonstruck," "Leaving Las Vegas" and "National Treasure" actor was arrested after an alleged altercation with his wife, Alice Kim.

Media reports said Cage was drunk and became abusive toward his spouse as they argued outside about which rental house was theirs.

"After the investigation, the District Attorney's Office refused all charges against Nick and this matter has been closed," Cage's lawyer, Harry Rosenberg, said in a statement Friday. "We are pleased that the process led to the correct result, despite the inaccurate media reports, and that Nick has been cleared and all charges have been dropped."
