LOS ANGELES, April 23 (UPI) -- Actress Lindsay Lohan posted bail and walked out of the Los Angeles County jail Friday night after being booked for probation violation, deputies said.

A Superior Court judge earlier in the day ordered Lohan to serve four months for violating her 2007 probation in a drunken-driving case by allegedly stealing a necklace from an L.A. jewelry store last summer.

Judge Stephanie Sautner also ordered Lohan to stand trial on a misdemeanor theft charge. The Los Angeles Times said Saturday that prosecutors were miffed that Sautner reduced the charge from a felony, which could have brought a tougher punishment,

The Times said Lohan was found guilty of probation violation even though she had not been convicted of stealing the necklace. Sautner said Lohan made no effort to return it to the store until she realized she probably would wind up in legal trouble.
